Austin - Fans gathered in the Germania Insurance Amphitheater to see Boy George and the Culture Club on what many would describe as a very hot Saturday night. Temperatures reached a high of 105 degrees though it did not detour the fans as they prepared for an evening of classic music.

Joining Boy George on the tour were opening acts Howard Jones and Berlin whom both put on outstanding performances. Kicking off the show was Howard Jones who had the crowd on their feet on more than one occasion.

Both opening acts were in rare form as they engaged the crowd as well as each other. It was apparent that all on stage lived for performing and that was solidified as Boy George and the Culture Club took the stage.

The sun had gone down by the time the group started their set but the heat persisted as did the audience. "Is it always this hot or should we just not talk about it?" George quipped with the crowd.

As light on their feet as ever, the Culture Club has not lost a step in regards to musicianship or stage presence. The group captured the audience with their playing and camaraderie while the front man captured them with more of his famous humor.

"One bottle of water for the three of us, I want taylor Swifts problems. She doesn't have any" George continued.

Dressed to the nines as usual the front man did point out "I love to be fashionable, but heat is the enemy of fashion, luckily I like being hot too." This seemed like the perfect transition into "I'll Tumble 4 Ya" which is a personal favorite of this reporter.

Though many years have passed since the 80's era of Pop/Rock but Culture Club seems to remain in their prime. The vocal stylings and physical performance of George still hold up after all these years.

Some might worry that the artists voice may have suffered as time passed but the truth is, he sounds just as good today as he did back then. Though we could not get an interview with the singer it was quite the treat to see the man in his element.

Culture Club shined through the evening and delivered an amazing performance to the welcoming crowd. Should you be able to catch Culture Club on tour we highly recommend it.

Even if you think it isn't quiet your scene, give it a chance. All 3 bands will treat you to real music played by real musicians, dare to be different and take a chance. You most certainly will not be disappointed.
