Halestorm: Live in Corpus Christi

Original Publication Date: October 3, 2022

Corpus Christi - Halestorm performed in the Selena Auditorium to a drove of adoring fans intent on seeing the band put on a show that would leave them asking for more. As the auditorium filled in anticipation they were treated to the opening band New Years Day.

The openers had a great sound and a stage presence that suited a position on this tour with the headline act. The guitarists were a sight to see as they swung their guitars toward the sky like they were heading into battle.

Their singer had a look all her own as she stood atop monitors to sing to the fans who undoubtedly approved of the groups performance. New Years Day is definitely a group to be on the lookout for if you enjoy live music.

The next group to take the stage was The Warning. A power trio consisting of sisters Paulina, Daniela, and Alejandra who come from Monterey, Mexico.

The 3 girls dominated the stage and the audience with their hard rock sound and never ending charisma. Each musician adds something different to the group that is unique to themselves.

The crowd cheered as relentlessly as the group themselves. To say that this group took us by surprise, would honestly be an understatement.

What caught our attention first was bassist Alejandra, or "Ale" as she is called, who is the youngest of the group. As the group was about to perform their first song a tight and hard bass could be heard cutting through the chatter of the crowd.

Any bassist will turn their head when hearing a bass tone that is just naturally aggressive with a little pop on the high end, and this reporter certainly did. From what I could tell the young musician was playing a Spector five string bass which sounded just amazing.

Paulina, otherwise known as "Pau" had all eyes on her as she played drums with what can only be described as authority. Singing and drumming at the same time, the drummer is definitely the driving force in the group.

model, her solos were clean, crisp, and just all out rocked.

The sisters put on a show that to be perfectly honest, almost stole the show. Though they were the openers for Halestorm, The Warning stands alone in the world of Rock Music.

The best way we can describe the group is to say that they perform like a well tuned hot rod. Each one of them performs a specific function in the group in their own unique way.

Paulina is the driving force of the group with her solid drumming. She sets the pace and energy as the group tears down the road.

Alejandra brings an aggressive and growling bass tone that lets you know that they are coming, and that you might not want to be in the way. She has a mysterious stage presence that makes you want to know what's going to happen next.

Daniela brings excitement when she plays and sings. Though all of the girls have their own intense energy, her performance tends to draw your attention as she stands atop a monitor and solos like a seasoned rock star.

At this point the crowd was ready for the main event. Halestorm had arrived on a stage set up that was akin to something you might expect to see at a KISS concert and matched the groups energy.

Lzzy Hale, the groups lead singer and guitarist stood center stage and electrified the audience with her aggressive vocal stylings. The group put on the show that will not soon be forgotten by those in attendance.

One of the highlights of the evening had to be the groups overall stage presence with each other. On top of great music and a raw sound, the band has a way of connecting with the crowd that goes beyond just seeing one another.

The performance brought a certain energy that fans could really get behind which is very reassuing in modern music. It's really is hard to describe, but somewhere between the groups flash, rock fueled songs, and memorable lyrics, there is a certain synergy that exists when this group puts on a show.

As many of our readers know, this publication loves not only music, but the instruments that produce it. It was especially great to see the arsenal of guitars and basses that the group brought out.

Hale herself has had signature model guitars created by Gibson and Epiphone that fans can purchase for themselves. As eye catching as the guitarists performance is, the signature model guitars are just as eye catching and can be purchased at most music retail stores such as Sweetwater Sound. In addition to the guitars, bassist Josh Smith had a very nice array of basses to choose from

that evening. One that caught our eye in specific was a beautiful gold sparkle Fender bass.

In the end, fans came for a show, and they got their money's worth. All three acts put on a memorable show that impressed all in attendance.
